Janis Lyn Joplin was one of the most successful and widely known rock performers of her era, she was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals[, a voice like no other, and her "electric" stage presence.
This performance, which was live at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, rocketed her to stardom. Her career was unfortunately cut short due to a fatal drug overdose in 1970.
