Sale Of The Century also known as $ale Of The Century is an American television game show that originally aired on September 29, 1969, on NBC as a daytime game show. Reg Grundy, aired a revived American Sale of the Century on NBC from January 3, 1983 to March 24, 1989. Contestants answered general knowledge toss-up questions posed by the host, correct answers earn then $5 or more depending on the version of the show. If they missed, they were penalized $1, depending on the game version. Contestants could also earn money or prizes in the Fame Game and in the speed round. There were also three Sales Of The Century that interrupted game play. The contestant with the lead could purchase awesome prizes by spending some of the cash they has won so far. Usually the cost of the prize would wipe out their lead. The highest scoring contestant won the game. Je or she went on to the Bonus Round. They could purchase incredible prizes with their winnings or they could choose to come back and try to earn more. in order to purchase even bigger prizes.
