In 1960, Elvis returned from serving in the army. He recorded "Aare You Lonesome Tonight?" at Colonel Tom Parker's request. It was the colonel's wife's favorite song. The song was delayed in getting released. it was not considered to fit with Elvis's style. When it did get released in Nov. 1960, it topped the charts, it became a gold record, then platinum, and in 2008 it was #81 on the Hot 100 Songs of all time.
