It Grows On Trees is Irene Dunne's final screen role. The movie is a most enjoyable fantasy comedy about the Baxter family who is tight on money. Irene Dunne plays Polly Baxter, and Dean Jagger is her husband, Phillip. A few days after Polly purchases and plants a couple of trees in the backyard, she discovers that they grow money! At first, it is a secret. In time, the neighbors and the media, along with the bank and the IRS, and the US. Treasury are involved. The comedy builds as the Basters face moral, ethical, and legal dilemmas.
