The scene was filmed on 11-14-1952 and aired on 1-19-53. Lucy was pregnant with Desi Jr. and he was delivered by C Section, 12 hours before the show aired. When this episode was aired, 73.9% of all the viewers in the US were tuned in. This set a record at that time of 44 Million viewers. This was the first time a TV 'pretend' pregnancy coincided with an actual pregnancy. On the show, Lucy has a boy, as she did in real life with headlines that read, "Lucy sticks to the script, a boy it is!" The viewership record was later broken when Elvis appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show.
