"Twelve Angry Men" is a 1954 teleplay written by Reginald Rose, written for Studio One which was an American television series. Franklin Schaffner the director. This is the Initially staged version which was a CBS live production on September 20, 1954. The show begins with the judge informing the jury that in a murder trial, their vote must be unanimous. The initial vote is 11 to 1 that the defendant is guilty. The holdout is Robert Cummings, who received an Emmy as best actor. The production won three Emmy Awards altogether, another for Rose's writing, and a third for Schaffner's direction.
