Peter, Paul, and Mary (Peter, Paul & Mary) were an American folk group formed in 1961. At that time, it was during an American folk music revival phenomenon. The trio was made up of Peter Yarrow, Paul Stookey, and Mary Travers.
Puff, the Magic Dragon", was released in 1963. This video is a live version from 1965. The music is by Yarrow and the words are based on a poem that had been written by a fellow student at Cornell, Leonard Lipton. At the time, rumors were, that the song refers to drugs, that is not true, it is actually about the lost innocence of childhood.
